Two children removed from home with marijuana plants

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (March 8, 2014) — On Friday, March 7th, two children were removed from a home in the 4500 block of Rio Grande Avenue in Terre Haute, after the Department of Child Services found what they believed were marijuana plants while checking the residence.

The Department of Child Services notified the Vigo County Sheriff’s office, who found additional plants inside the home, in plain view.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the home and found marijuana like material and paraphernalia as well as over $5,000 in cash, marijuana packaging materials, firearms and more marijuana packaging in one gallon plastic bags.

Deputies also found a handgun in the basement which had an altered serial number.

Lawrence Mickelson, 32 and Amanda Foltz, 27, both of Terre Haute were arrested on several charges and two children were removed from the home.
