Coroner releases identity of body found in retention pond

Indianapolis, Ind. (March 22, 2014) — Chief Deputy Coroner Alfie Ballew has released the name of the man found dead in a retention pond Friday night.

The body has been identified as that of 21-year-old Reyes Xavier Perez who went missing a week ago.

Officers and firefighters responded to the 1300 block of Murphy’s Landing Dr. just before 8:00 p.m. Friday in relation to a possible drowning. This location is near Bluff Rd. and Southport Rd.

IFD was called to the site after a jacket was located near the pond that matched the description of the jacket belonging to Perez. He was wearing a jacket that matches the description when he went missing on March 14.

Divers searched for 48 minutes prior to locating the victim and found the person in 6-7 feet of water about 30 feet from shore.
