Man shot in the 3700 block of North Gale Street, just a mile away from another shooting, less than an hour before.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 22, 2014) — Police are investigating a couple of overnight shootings on the northeast side. Both happened late Friday night into early Saturday morning, within about a mile of each other.

A person was shot in the chest on 31st Street and Manor Avenue just before 11-30 p-m. He was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

And as police responded to that shooting, more bullets rang out about 45 minutes later and just a mile away.

Police say a man was on the porch with friends in the 37-hundred block of Gale Street, when he was shot in the foot.
Police say the bullet came from down the street. That man also was taken to the hospital.

Very little information was immediately released. Police have not yet said whether the shootings are connected.
