INDIANAPOLIS (March 28, 2014) – Indianapolis fire crews got a quick handle on a fire at a south side shopping center.

Emergency crews were called to Southern Plaza at 4200 S. East St. around 8 a.m.

Sally Beauty Supply and BMO Harris Bank were two of the businesses affected by the fire. A bank employee arrived at work Friday morning and noticed smoke coming from the building. The worker called 911 and IFD crews quickly responded. They had the fire out in about 20 minutes. It started in an attic area shared by the two businesses, and IFD said the bulk of the fire originated at Sally Beauty Supply. Other businesses sustained smoke damage.

IFD said no one was hurt.
