NCAA Tournament brings in big attendance numbers

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – College basketball fans are getting ready to watch Kentucky vs. Michigan this afternoon but organizers are already calling this weekend a success. The Midwest Regional Semi-finals at Lucas Oil Stadium has brought in impressive attendance numbers. More than 40,000 people attended the games Friday night and 35,000 tickets were sold for Sunday.

Tip-off for the Kentucky vs. Michigan game is at 5:05 p.m. As of right now additional upper level seating has not been opened up. Organizers opened up more seats on Friday due to demand for tickets.

According to Indiana Sports Corporation the Friday games brought in the largest crowd to watch a college basketball game this season. Officials estimate the tournament has a $20 million economic impact. Indianapolis is using this round of regional play to warm up before hosting the Final Four next year.
