Woman dies after apartment fire on city’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 10, 2014) – A woman died after an apartment fire on the city’s west side Thursday morning.

A resident called 911 dispatchers with reports of a fire around 3:45 a.m. in the 3400 block of Ashley Lane at Pangea Meadows Apartments.

Flames were visible from the rear of the building when crews arrived. At least three residents suffered from fire-related injuries.

A 60-year-old woman was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in extreme critical condition. She died about an hour later from fire-related injuries.

Fourteen people and six units were affected by this fire. The American Red Cross sent disaster relief volunteers to the apartment complex to help residents.
