Fort Wayne men arrested after police seize nearly 600 pounds of marijuana

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (April 16, 2014)—Two men were arrested in Fort Wayne after authorities seized nearly 600 pounds of marijuana as it was being delivered to a house Tuesday.

Luis Perez, 49, and Alvaro Rivera, 23, were arrested on charges of dealing marijuana.

Ft Wayne marijuana seize 1The Allen County Drug Task Force, with the assistance of agents from Indiana State Police, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Fort Wayne and New Haven police departments, seized the marijuana after running surveillance on a delivery to a house in the 8000 block of Auburn Road.

Authorities said the Allen County SWAT team was able to make entry into the house and recovered 550 pounds of marijuana that was just delivered and an additional 32 pounds already pre-packaged for sale. The total street value of the drugs is estimated at more than $580,000.

Police continue to investigate.
