House total loss after fire in Brown County

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. (April 16, 2014) – One person is without a home in Brown County after a house fire Tuesday night.

The Hamblen Township Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a large residence fire in the 1400 block of Hornettown Road around 8:30 p.m.

One person was living in the house at the time, and that person safely escaped.

Several other fire departments were called to assist Hamblen Township due to the intensity of the fire. Firefighters successfully extinguished the flames without any injuries, but the house was a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
