Remains found in Henry County identified, homicide investigation underway

HENRY COUNTY (April 16, 2014) – Authorities identified remains found Sunday in southwest Henry County and say the Indianapolis man’s death is being investigated as a homicide.

Around 6 p.m. Sunday, officers were called to Montgomery Creek just off Grant City Road after a passerby came across a man’s body during a walk.

An autopsy identified the man as Zackery D. Soots, 23, Indianapolis. The case is being investigated as a homicide, and police are asking for help from the public.

Anyone with information about Soots and his last known whereabouts should call State Police Detective Scott Jarvis at 765-778-2121, Sergeant Elmer New of the Henry County Sheriff’s Department or Scott Ullery of the New Castle Police Department at 765-529-4901. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
