INDIANAPOLIS (April 21, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police arrested three teenagers after they say the trio led them on a chase through the north side of Indianapolis in a stolen van.

It started Monday with the report that a van was stolen around 6:55 a.m. Shortly after that, IMPD was alerted to a burglary at a home in the 7400 block of Lions Head Drive off of 73rd Street on the north side. In that case, a neighbor saw someone come out of the home with television sets and called police. Police said the suspects ransacked the home. Calls from witnesses matched the vehicle to the van stolen earlier in the morning.

An officer spotted the van–a white Kia Sedona–and tried to pull the vehicle over near 40th Street and College Avenue when additional police units arrived. The driver wouldn’t stop.

Police chased after the van, which crashed near Kessler and Binford. After hitting another car, the driver lost control and the van crashed into a tree.

Police detained two juveniles and an 18-year-old suspect.

Officers recovered items stolen in the earlier burglary, police said.
