Fiery crash in Illinois kills 2 Indianapolis residents

HOMER, Ill. (April 21, 2014) – Two Indianapolis residents died after a fiery crash Sunday afternoon in east-central Illinois.

According to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup, 62-year-old Dorothy Doxtater and 33-year-old Scott Doxtater died in the crash on Illinois 49, south of Homer Lake Road. It happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday and closed the road for several hours as police investigated.

Two vehicles—a Jeep Grand Cherokee and a Mercedes Benz—were involved in the crash. Three other people were hospitalized; their conditions weren’t available.

A 19-year-old driver was cited for improper lane usage, police said.

The Champaign County Coroner’s Office and Illinois State Police District 10 were investigating.
