Former Plainfield math teacher found guilty of child molestation

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (April 23, 2014)—A jury found an Indiana teacher guilty Wednesday of child molestation and attempt to commit child molestation.

Joseph Singleton, who resigned as a math teacher from Plainfield Community Middle School last May, admitted to texting a 13-year-old girl. According to the probable cause, he also confessed to kissing the girl several times while at school.

The student’s mother alerted authorities after finding several texts on her daughter’s phone.

Singleton will be sentenced on May 21.
