Colin Powell in Bloomington, headlines Ivy Tech fundraising dinner

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (April 24, 2014) – General Colin Powell is in Bloomington to headline Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington’s 11th annual O’Bannon Institute for Community Service.

“On the heels of Chancellor John R. Whikehart`s retirement, Ivy Tech-Bloomington is continuing its annual tradition of hosting the O’Bannon Institute for Community Service in April, and we`re pleased to announce General Powell as the keynote speaker,” said Interim Chancellor Bradley Thurmond. “Additionally, we’re welcoming the Chancellor Emeritus back to campus as the Institute Conversation speaker for Friday, April 25.”

Powell is the first African-American chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former secretary of state.

Chancellor Emeritus John R. Whikehart established the O’Bannon Institute for Community Service at Ivy Tech-Bloomington in 2004 as an annual opportunity for the community to come together to discuss issues of local and national importance.
