HARTFORD, CT (May 2, 2014) – University of Connecticut officials asked alum Rick Mastracchio to deliver this year’s address to their school of engineering in person, but unfortunately he’s out of town… approximately 250,000 miles away!

Mastracchio also happens to be an astronaut and will give the graduation speech from space!

He recorded the speech at the International Space Station over the weekend and beamed it back to NASA, which is converting the file today to send to UConn.

Mastracchio earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer engineering from UConn in 1982, and he will receive an honorary doctorate.
