INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 14, 2014) — A car crashed into the front of a home on the west side of Indianapolis early Wednesday morning. The sedan veered off the street, cut across the front lawn and smashed through a brick porch of a home on Patricia Street.

Investigators said the driver was likely speeding, but it’s unclear why they lost control. The driver left the scene of the crash. Officers weren’t sure if one or more people were in the car.

The family that lives in the home was inside sleeping when the car hit the house. No one in the home was hurt.

Firefighters investigated the structure of the house and found it to be safe. They said the brick porch surrounding the home likely saved the integrity of the house itself. The majority of the damage was to the front bricks.

The family was able to go back inside and sleep after officers had the car towed away.

Investigators are still looking for whoever was behind the wheel of the car. Anyone with information about the crash can anonymously call Crime Stoppers (317) 262-TIPS.
