SHIRLEY, Ind. (May 16, 2014)— A 20-year-old father was arrested on child abuse charges after police said he seriously injured his 3-month-old child.
Wednesday, the child was admitted to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health, where the child continues to recover. It is unclear what injuries the child sustained.
Following an investigation, 20-year-old William McDonald was arrested on charges of neglect of a dependent and battery, both Class D felonies.
Police said McDonald admitted to shaking the child, saying he lost control of his emotions after he could not get the child to stop crying.
McDonald is currently being held on no bond in the Hancock County Jail.
