INDIANAPOLIS (May 29, 2014) – A Greenwood man died Wednesday after his car veered off I-465 and slammed into a bridge support.

Around 5 p.m., Indiana state troopers were dispatched to the single-vehicle crash on I-465 northbound at the ramp to I-74 eastbound. Police said Paul Summers, 46, Greenwood, was going on I-465 and approaching the ramp when his car failed to negotiate the curve. It went across a grassy median before colliding head-on with the bridge support.

Summers was pronounced dead at the scene; no one else was in the car. Investigators don’t know why he failed to make the curve, hit the brakes or take any evasive measures before the crash.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy Thursday.
