Police identify decomposed body found Monday on city’s northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 3, 2014)–Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers were dispatched to the 2000 block North Columbia Avenue on the report of a body found in a vacant lot on Monday.

Officers arrived and confirmed the report just before 1:15 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they said the body was too decomposed to identify.

IMPD announced Tuesday that the deceased is Loy E. Ofsthun, 56, Indianapolis.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances.
