INDIANAPOLIS (June 6, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police said a man found what appeared to be a human skull Thursday near the same area where a woman’s decomposed remains were discovered earlier this week.

According to IMPD, the skull was found in the 2100 block of Columbia Avenue. Investigators said they won’t know if the remains are human until they get results back from forensics.

On Monday afternoon, police said a decomposed body was found just down the street in the 2000 block of Columbia Avenue. Those remains were later identified as Loy E. Ofsthun, 56, Indianapolis. Police had not determined her cause of death, and homicide detectives were investigating the case.

Police said it was too early to say if the cases were related.
