Police issue all clear after armed robbery puts IUPUI on alert

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 6, 2014) — IUPUI was on alert late Friday night after an armed robbery on Riley Hospital Drive, near campus.

Police say around 11 p.m., a person that appeared to be armed approached the victim. After the robbery, the suspect ran south down Riley Hospital Drive.

Police issued the alert immediately via Twitter and the campus security alert system, advising students to take shelter in the nearest available room and lock the door.

The alert was lifted at 1:15 a.m. Police had not yet found the suspect but said they had no reason to believe the armed suspect was still on campus.

The investigation is ongoing.
