Second Franklin teen dies after Friday’s swimming accident

FRANKLIN, Ind. (June 9, 2014)– The Marion County Coroner’s office confirms Michael Chadbourne  has now died due to Friday’s swimming accident in the Big Blue River.

Sarah McLevish and Michael Chadbourne were pulled from the Big Blue River in Edinburgh Friday after swimming with three other friends. Chadbourne succumbed to his injuries this afternoon.  DNR investigators said McLevish got swept away in the water near the dam and another friend, 17-year-old Jason Moran, went in to help her. Moran disappeared under the water. DNR crews found his body Sunday morning.

Calling hours for Moran will be Wednesday, June 11, from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m., in the Franklin Community High School gymnasium.

Attendees are asked to enter through the athletic entrance, doors 14, 15 & 16 (located on the West side of the building).

A memorial service will take place at 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12, and will be a private service for family members only.

Services are not yet set for Chadbourne.

An official fund has been set up on behalf of all five families. The account has been named: FCHS Family Fund and will be held at Heartland Community Bank, a Horizon Bank Company.

For anyone wishing to make a donation, checks can be made payable to FCHS Family Fund and dropped off at any Heartland Community or Horizon Bank location or mailed to Franklin Community High School at 2600 Cumberland Drive, Franklin, IN. 46131.
