Large petroleum spill on city’s east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 20, 2014) – A large petroleum spill occurred on the city’s east side Friday morning.

The spill occurred around 1:30 a.m. inn the 900 block of S Emerson Avenue after three tanker cars derailed, and one of those cars was punctured.

The spill is on CSX property and IFD is currently on the scene assisting.

The fluid is a non-hazardous, non-life threatening lubricant that is leaking from a static tanker car .

There are no injuries, and there is no extension into any waterway.
