STORMY MONDAY AFTERNOON
Gusty thunderstorms rolled across the city for the evening commute. Heavy storms arrived at 5 PM with over half-inch of rain in minutes. This storm collapsed and brought a strong gust of wind through the city toppling trees and power lines.

Scattered storms, the heaviest in NW Indiana will continue this evening then a new surge of storms will push from southwest Indiana predawn. Locally heavy rainfall is the primary threat for AM commuters. Some locations that received heavy rainfall (estimated 4″ to 6″) may see additional heavy rain early Tuesday of 1″ to 3″
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING issued for several central
Indiana counties until 3 PM. Counties include Fountain, Tippecanoe and Warren.
The Storm Prediction Center is considering a severe thunderstorm watch for a large portion of our viewing area. Damaging winds continues to be the main threat with these storms today.
The National Weather Service said it’s watching severe storms in Illinois that could affect Indiana:

Strong thunderstorm advisory for Clay, Parke, Putnam Co. till 4:00 PM. This storm is moving northeast at 35 mph. 50 mph winds possible.

Strong thunderstorm advisory for Lawrence County until 4:15 PM. This is moving NE at 20 mph and could produce 40 mph wind gusts, penny sized hail, heavy rain and dangerous lightning. Bedford, Avoca, Oolitic, Tunnelton, Bartlettsville & Heltonville are in the path of this storm.
This cell produced a 55 mph wind gust as it pass through Bedford and .5″ hail. Standing water is also being reported in the city streets of Bedford.
Darkening skies southwest of the city.. storms are above to move in to town!
Heavy rain about to move into Indianapolis bringing frequent lightning, gusty winds and possibly some small hail.

STORM UPDATE: Strong wind gusts affected 15,000+ customers & 9500 remain w/o power. Crews are working as quickly as they can to restore.
