INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 29, 2014) – The Indianapolis International Airport was named earlier this year as the best airport in North America by Airports Council International.

The ACI will be on hand on Tuesday to give the Indianapolis Airport the award for the second straight year as part of the prestigious annual Airport Service Quality awards for performance excellence.

For 2013, the airport was named the best airport in North America as well as in 2012 and 2010 and has been ranked in the top three airports in North America every year since.

The awards are decided based on surveyed passengers, who provide their assessment of 24 of the most important aspects of their airport experience, which are conducted in gate areas, when airport performance is top of mind among passengers.

A minimum of 1,400 passengers per year are surveyed at each airport.

The Airports Council International’s top ranked airports by region, include:

Africa: Cape Town

Asia-Pacific: Seoul Incheon

Europe: Moscow Sheremetyevo

Latin America – Guayaquil

Middle East: Abu Dhabi

North America: Indianapolis
