GREENFIELD (July 3, 2014) – Investigators in Hancock County found human remains near Greenfield.

Investigators found the decomposed remains in a creek bed in the 3100 block of U.S 40 near Greenfield Thursday morning. Workers had reported a foul odor in the area. The remains belong to an unidentified male, investigators said.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department wasn’t sure if the remains were those of Jody Scroggins, a Greenfield man who was reported missing last week.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the identity and cause of death.
