Male child, 4, taken to hospital after being shot in arm by another child

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 7, 2014)– A 4-year-old boy is recovering at Riley Hospital after being shot by another child Monday.

Police said the boy was brought to Community Hospital North around 3 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the arm. The boy was later transported to Riley Hospital.

FOX59 was told that he is in stable condition.

Investigators said it appears one child accidentally shot the boy while at the Timber Point Apartments on the city’s northeast side. The renter of the apartment, who is a relative of the boy, was in the process of moving. A gun was found by the child, who accidentally discharged it and struck another child.

There were several children inside the home at the time.

Officials with the Department of Child Services is conducting interviews to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
