ELWOOD (July 10, 2014) – The Madison County coroner ruled the death of an Elwood woman a homicide.

Linda Speer, 66, was found dead late Tuesday night in her home in the 1800 block of North C Street. The coroner told FOX59 Wednesday that investigators suspected foul play in her death.

An autopsy Wednesday afternoon revealed that Speer was beaten and stabbed to death. The coroner said she died from “multiple blunt force injuries to the head and multiple traumatic sharp injuries to the chest.”

The case remains under investigation.
