Medal of Honor, Purple Heart presented during ceremony for Officer Renn

INDIANAPOLIS (July 10, 2014) – A flag was presented to fallen Indianapolis Metropolitan police Officer Perry Renn Tuesday afternoon.

The ceremony began at 2 p.m. Renn was also awarded the Medal of Honor and Purple Heart.

“Perry made this country a better place to live,” IMPD Chief Rick Hite said during the ceremony.

Visitation for the fallen officer followed the ceremony and was scheduled to continue until 8 p.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 W. 38th St.

A public funeral service for Renn will be held Friday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse downtown. It starts at 11 a.m. Once the service ends, a  procession will travel to Crown Hill Cemetery. A graveside service will follow in the cemetery’s Heroes of Public Safety section.
