INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 12, 2014) — Police are investigating after a man was shot in a drive-by shooting early Saturday morning.

Crews were called to the scene on the 5600 block of Suburban Drive just after 8AM Saturday. They say a man was riding a bike when he was shot in the hip by a passing car.

Rydrikia Warren lives nearby the scene of the shooting.

“I just happened to look at the bike over there and I said that looks like our sons bike,” said Warren.

Warren says the bike that the victim was shot on, actually belonged to her 10-year-old-son.  She claims it was taken from the side of her house.

“That’s my baby’s bike!  He rides that bike everyday, and for it to be in a crime and happen next door to my house.  I can’t put my kids through this,” said Warren.

The victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in good condition. Police say the victim may have known the shooter.  Therefore, they are ruling out the possibility of this being a random shooting.

Police  have detained a person of interest in the shooting. We will update this story when more information becomes available.
