INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 13, 2014) — An armed robbery on the east side of Indianapolis led to an hours-long SWAT situation that stretched into Sunday morning.

IMPD dispatch says a man tried to rob someone inside a house near East 10th Street and Gale Street around 2 a.m. A victim called police from inside the home. When officers arrived, they ordered everyone out of the home and were able to safely get five people out — everyone except the armed man, who then barricaded himself inside.

SWAT responded and police set up staging nearby. Negotiations went on for several hours, but officers were finally able to get the man to come out of the house around 6 a.m. He came out shirtless, was then handcuffed and put in the back of a cruiser.

He and another person were in custody being questioned Sunday morning.

No other details were immediately released.
