INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 13, 2014) — This year’s first supermoon filled the night sky over the weekend.

A supermoon is when a full moon is at its closest proximity to the Earth.

If you missed seeing the supermoon this weekend, you’ll have more chances this year.

The next supermoon will be August 10 and then again on September 8.

In this calendar year, we will have 5 supermoons.

However, a supermoon usually only occurs about once every 13 months.
