The Andretti Autosport driver takes a victory lap at the Iowa Speedway after winning the Iowa Corn 300.

NEWTON, IA – Since completing one of his dreams as a driver, it’s been a bit of a rough time for Ryan Hunter-Reay.

A bad weekend in Detroit following the race spelled a minor slump for the driver who captured a thrilling Indianapolis 500 on May 25th.

But thanks to a pit decision on Saturday night at the Iowa Speedway, the Andretti Autosport driver took his bright yellow car back to victory lane.

Racing with fresh tires, Hunter-Reay passed Tony Kanaan for the lead with two laps to go to come home with a win at the Iowa Corn 300 in Newton.

It’s Hunter-Reay’s third victory over the season, one that was aided by the decision to pit with 16 laps to go under caution. The fresh tires helped him pass a dominant Kanaan, who lead 247 laps on the night, in the final miles of the race.

With the victory Hunter-Reay now jumps into third in the Verizon IndyCar Standings as he trails new points leader Helio Castroneves by 31.
