Evansville duo arrested after car chase

WARRICK, Ind. (July 19, 2014) — Two Evansville men are behind bars after being involved in a car chase with state troopers.

19-year-old Jonathan Goergen and 18-year-old Drew Ellis were caught going down Lincoln Avenue at 70 mph – the speed limit is 35. A trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, coming to a stop at a dead end a short time later.

Troopers found the car parked and abandoned. Backup, including a K9 unit, was called in to assist with the search. Goergen was found hiding in a bush, and Ellis was found sitting on the back porch of a residence on Estate Drive. Both were arrested without incident and taken to Warrick County Jail where they are held on Bond.

Goergen is charged with possession of alcohol and resisting law enforcement in a vehicle. Ellis is charged with resisting law enforcement.
