NEW ALBANY, Ind. (July 20, 2014) — Indiana Conservation Officers confirm a man has died in the Ohio River near New Albany after falling from a boat.

The man was taken to Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany but was unable to be saved.

An investigating shows that two fishermen were in a runabout boat just upstream from the K& I bridge when the boat’s motor struck an object underwater, causing one of the fishermen to be thrown overboard.

The victim quickly resurfaced and was assisted back into the boat, before losing consciousness.

A Louisville Fire Department boat and another recreational boat assisted before the victim was taken to the New Albany boat ramp and given CPR.

Officials have not released the name of the victim.
