Fantastic day that’s perfect for heading outside
We finally shake off the low rain chance bug today and should see dry conditions throughout the day. Today should be a fantastic day at the fair if you decide to head out there. Temperatures will be in the mid-80s with relatively low humidity. If you want to hit the road for an adventure you could head over to Rushville for the annual Steam Engine Show. That’s perfect also for the little ones with more than 100 engines on display and many more trailers out that way.
The mid-level low exited the state yesterday afternoon and left us with clear skies. We remained under the influence of its cyclonic flow for the day with it pulling in cooler air that mixed down to the surface. Due to that we only hit 82 degrees for a high even with all the sun we saw.
Temperatures as we have already said will be on the way up today with me forecasting highs in the mid-80s for most people. A few communities will likely struggle to hit 83 degrees and one or two places may only top out at 82. This has been a most unusual summer with most days failing to hit guidance numbers due to a persistent long wave trough right on top of us.
The extended forecast:
If we see any rain at all over the next 7 days it won’t be much. The GFS pumps out fifteen hundredths of an inch of rain with the EURO forecasting two hundredth of an inch falling over the next 7 days. Things have certainly dried out over the next 7 days when comparing to what they were showing just 24 hours. There is one discrepancy with the numeric model output showing us mostly dry this week as mentioned already. The MSLP maps though show rain at least being around on a couple of days this week. Of note is Wednesday as another short wave passes us by. Wednesday will likely be cloudy with a rain shower or two possible. The MSLP EURO map also shows a surface low passing by on Friday bringing heavy rain and storms. We will keep an eye on both possibilities over the course of the next couple of days. Get out there and enjoy this awesome weather!
