Hogsett forms exploratory campaign committee
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 14, 2014) – After revealing he had plans to do it, former U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett announced Thursday that he formed an exploratory committee to run for mayor of Indianapolis.
The move allows Hogsett to meet with civic and community leaders to discuss issues facing the Circle City. The announcement comes a day after Republicans said Hogsett may have violated the Hatch Act by discussing his mayoral plans while serving as a federal prosecutor. Hogsett resigned as U.S. attorney and took a job with a local law firm to run for office.
State Rep. Ed Delaney held a news conference Thursday to discuss his plans to run on the Democratic ticket. Washington Township Trustee Frank Short is also seeking the party nomination.
