INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 14, 2014)–  A man accused of murdering a convenience store clerk could face a life sentence without parole.

Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Thursday that a request has been filed for a life sentence without parole against Desi Thomas, Jr.

Thomas has been charged with two counts of murder and robbery in the death of Harry Briggs at a Joe’s Junction convenience store robbery on June 4.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Thomas entered the convenience store located on the west side of Indianapolis, pointed a handgun at Harry Briggs and another store employee and demanded money before firing three shots at Briggs.

“The intentional acts of the defendant, as alleged, were nothing less than the cold-blooded killing of Harry Briggs,” Prosecutor Curry said. “Those alleged acts, if proven, thus justify that the defendant spend life in prison with no option for parole.”

In the State’s request for life sentence without parole, the alleged aggravating circumstance is that Thomas did intentionally murder Harry Briggs, while committing or attempting to commit robbery of the Joe’s Junction convenience store.

The next court appearance scheduled for the defendant is a pre-trial conference on October 7.
