LAFAYETTE (Aug. 20, 2014) – Police in Lafayette are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead Wednesday morning.

Lafayette police got the call around 9:10 a.m. after a neighbor checked on the man who lived at the home in the 1500 block of North 16th Street. A 1-year-old boy also found inside was not hurt.

The boy is not related to the victim, police said. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Central Hospital to be checked out, and police contacted the Department of Child Services.

Police said the man’s death didn’t appear to be a random act, and they’re treating the case like a homicide.

Lt. Brad Hayworth from the Lafayette Police Department said detectives received information that a few people may have been at the house Tuesday night. He said detectives want to talk to them.
