INDIANAPOLIS–The Colts have some big decisions to make–and quick. Despite making roster cuts Monday morning, they still need to reduce their squad by four men by the 4 p.m. deadline on Tuesday.

Head Coach Chuck Pagano says the tough part is deciding which positions need more depth than others, because of the injury factor, and which players players overall are the best fit for the team competitively.

“We said from day one it was going to be extremely difficult because we felt like the 90-man roster this year compared to year onr is a heck of a lot different. We’re deeper at every position,” said Pagano. “Everyone says getting to 75 is easy, but we let go of some good football players.”

Until those cuts are made, the veteran players are offering some quality advice to the players who may be on the cusp.

“One thing I learned last year was you’re not just playing in those preseason games for the teams you’re on, you’re playing to put film on for 31 other teams,” said tight end Jack Doyle.

“Make sure you get in that playbook and if you have any questions talk to your coach right now. When it’s time to get in there and the ball gets rolling and the bullets start flying, there’s no way you can come to that sideline and look for one of us. We won’t be there to help you,” said defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois.

Dan “Boom” Herron is still auditioning for his spot as a Colt. He’s heeding the veteran’s advice and says he hopes he shines in Thursday’s game in Cincinnati just like he has in the earlier preseason contests.

“It’s definitely important for all the players but definitely for the guys who aren’t starters,” said Herron. “This is time for us to go out there and showcase our talent and show the coach we deserve a spot on the team.”

The Colts announced roster cuts Monday morning and are as follows:

  • Cornerback Johnny Adams
  • Cornerback Qua Cox
  • Guard Andre Cureton
  • Guard Marcus Hall
  • Cornerback Kameron Jackson
  • Wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson
  • Linebacker Jonathon Sharpe
