UPDATE | Female soldier shoots herself at Virginia’s Fort Lee

FORT LEE, Va. (Aug. 25, 2014) – A Virginia Army post went on lockdown Monday morning after reports of an active shooter. The base gave the “all clear” just after 10:10 a.m.

The incident was reported at Building 5020 of the Combined Arms Support Command headquarters. Alarms were sounded and the base remained on lockdown the all clear was signaled.

According to a release from the base, first responders arrived after receiving a report that a female soldier had a gun inside CASCOM headquarters. Initial reports indicated the woman turned the gun on herself, firing one gunshot and wounding herself. Her condition isn’t currently known.

The base posted the following on its Facebook page:

An all clear has been issued by the Fort Lee installation operations center at 9:50 a.m. The law enforcement event is over.
