INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 25, 2014) – Indianapolis Metropolitan police arrested a teenager who tried to evade officers in a stolen minivan after a hit and run crash this weekend.

The incident started around 3 p.m. Saturday when an officer tried to stop a silver 1998 Pontiac minivan at 30th and Georgetown Road. The driver didn’t stop, and the officer pursued. The minivan rammed the officer’s squad car at 30th and Moller.

The pursuit continued on 34th Street and Eagle Creek Parkway and then onto 46th Street. Another officer tried to initiate a PIT maneuver but the van kept going. The officer tried a second time, and the driver rammed her police cruiser before going off the road and through the fence around Eagle Creek Airport.

The suspect’s vehicle reached 46th Street again and was finally stopped after a successful PIT maneuver.

Police said the suspect, Emmanuel Aguilar, 19, was also involved in a hit and run crash in Southwest District.

He faces preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, leaving the scene of an accident and auto theft.
