Warm streak continues, hotter then stormy end to week
DEW POINT DROPS
Feels better as humidity pulls back and lowers. The dew point (measure of moisture in the atmosphere) is dropped Wednesday. As we near the 60° mark it feels more and more comfortable.
Drier air means a cooler night. Area low temps away from the city could reach the upper 50s by early Thursday morning.
SUMMER 2014 ENDS (SORT OF)
Meteorological summer ended August 31st and the cool 2014 summer ended on a warm streak. At one point the summer ranked in the top 12 coolest but fell back to the 27th coolest summer on record with an average temperature of 72.2°. Rainfall reached 13.09″ from June 1st to August 31st – 1.16″ above normal.
SEPTEMBER – 2nd FASTEST MONTH TO COOL
Not unusual at all for the warmth to spill into September but it is on borrowed time. The days continue to shorten and the drop in the average temperature of 11.5° is only second to November in ranking months that cool.
NEW SURGE OF HEAT
We are not done with the warmth. A 2 day surge in the works to end the work week will send the thermometer back to near the 90 degree mark Thursday and Friday afternoon.
Hottest day is Friday and with an approaching cold front, storms are possible. These may be strong to severe and could impact area High School football. Be sure to check back. Timing at this distance is from 4 PM on. That is not carved in stone. We will keep you updated.
COOLEST AIR IN WEEKS
With front passing late Friday early Saturday a real autumn like feel is on the way. Area temperatures could tumble into the 40s Sunday and Monday morning.
