Heat continues Friday then big fall-like change coming
Late season surge in heat continued Thursday as temps reached the upper 80s and low 90s. A strong warm up underway that continues into Friday. The heat Index reached 91° in the city and will likely go higher Friday. Temperatures are forecast to crack the 90° mark and combined with higher humidity, the heat index reaches 97° to 103°.
COLD FRONT COMING
Strong push of cooler air arrives this weekend ending the streak of above normal days. The front passes late Friday night but before it passes thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of it.
Storms are expected to develop late afternoon and early evening in north Indiana and settle south through 12 AM. We are still watching for the potential of a few strong or severe storms and impact on area high school football games. We will update later tonight and early on Friday.
BIGGER PUSH OF COOL NEXT WEEK
Coolest air in weeks arrives in the wake of Friday night’s front. Temperatures may tumble to the upper 40s by Sunday and Monday morning away from the city.
Coolest air of the season emerges in the upper Midwest later next week. A Big push of cool air is headed south and could be the coolest of season here with first sub 70° day since mid May.
