Taxi driver hit in head with gun, fights off suspects in attempted robbery

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (September 5, 2014) – A taxi driver fought off a pair of suspects in an attempted robbery on the city’s near northeast side.

The incident happened near the intersection of 24th Street and Winthrop Avenue just before 2:15 a.m. Friday morning.

The male victim was driving an Indy Airport Taxi when he picked up two male passengers on 38th Street.

The suspects told the driver to head to 24th and Winthrop.

When the taxi arrived at the location, one of the suspects hit the driver in the side of his head with a gun.

The driver successfully fought off the suspects despite the fact that his ear was busted open.

Police are still looking for the suspects. The driver described them as two black males, 16 to 18 years old.
