JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. (September 5, 2014) – A woman was arrested for doing drugs in the Johnson County Sheriff Parking lot Thursday morning, police say.

Melissa Copas, 32, was waiting to pick someone up from jail at about 2:05 a.m.

A bystander witnessed Copas snorting lines of white powder from a mirror in her car while her 7-year-old son stood outside her car.

A police officer confronted Copas, and he asked Copas for her driver’s license.

He then discovered that her driver’s license was suspended, and she admitted that she had been driving on a suspended license.

A K-9 officer sniffed around the car and found two things of interest–a mirror with white powder and a white plastic straw.

Copas was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia.

The man she was picking up from jail took her vehicle and her son home.
