INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 8, 2014) — Police are investigating a shooting that killed a teenager Sunday night on the near northeast side.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department identified the victim as Kayalleiujah Gibson, 16, Indianapolis.

Police were called to the 4300 block of East 34th Street at 8:53 p.m. Sunday. They found Gibson in the eastbound lane with an apparent gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives seized a bicycle on the sidewalk nearby.

Detectives with the Homicide Unit canvassed the area and spoke with potential witnesses.

This shooting happened two blocks from Officer Perry Renn’s murder.
