CARMEL (Sept. 14, 2014) — It was all about community in Carmel Sunday afternoon.

Carmel “PorchFest ” is a new event, bringing out neighbors, families and even entertainment to the streets of Carmel’s Arts and Designs District.

Dozens of live musical acts from every genre helped to make the event one to remember.

Streets were shut down, as musical acts moved from house to house, or porch to porch, which served as their venues.

Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard says the event was aimed at unifying his residents.

“This is what helps our quality of life in this area.  We don’t have mountains or oceans.  So, we have to work hard on other things to make it a place where people want to live.  And if we can do that, we can attract the best businesses from everywhere in the country.”

The mayor hopes the event is one the city can hold for years to come.
