INDIANAPOLIS (Sept. 19, 2014) – They want Apple’s newest phone, and they don’t care how long it takes to get it.

An estimated 450 people lined up at the Fashion Mall to get their hands on the new iPhone 6 and its larger cousin, the iPhone 6 Plus. Organizers at the Apple Store and mall turned it into a party, too, employing a DJ and free food and coffee to keep fans entertained while they waited.

The mall had two lines going: one for “walk-ins” hoping to buy the phone and another for people who’d preordered their new phones. Some camped out overnight as they waited for the store to open at 5:30. They weren’t allowed in the parking lot until 5 a.m., so many of them “hovered” until they could start lining up.

Suheil Mustaklem was first in line.

“Really excited. I’ve been here waiting for about five hours, so hopefully I’ll get the two phones I want to get,” he told FOX59. Mustaklem planned to buy two of the iPhone 6 Plus models. He wants the 128GB version.

“I went to White Castle for breakfast, but we couldn’t get in line. Then everyone started running and (my friend and I) got to the front of the line,” he said.

Mustaklem is looking forward to the larger phone and its larger screen--the iPhone 6 Plus model has a 5.5-inch display.

Similar scenes played out at other wireless stores around the area, including the AT&T store in Glendale. Organizers there gave FOX59 a sneak peek at the new phones.
