Carmel running back Shakir Paschall runs in for a touchdown in the Greyhounds' 42-20 win over Lawrence North.

INDIANAPOLIS – Neither team had it easy but at the end of the day two of the main powers in Class 6A survived Week 5 of the high school football season.

Warren Central expected a fight against Ben Davis at home and they got that but Carmel got a little more than they might have bargained for against Lawrence North. At least for a while anyway.

But in the end the Warriors were able to rally for a 28-21 win over the Giants to remain perfect on the season while Carmel got their offense going late to beat the upstart Wildcats 42-20.

Mykelti Williams scored a pair of second half touchdowns off the Wildcat formation to help Warren Central rally from a 7-point deficit to win.

Carmel took an early 14-0 lead but watched Lawrence North put together a pair of 80-plus yard drives that produced a pair of touchdown runs by Elijah Smith. But Shakir Paschall’s touchdown run gave the Greyhounds a lead with 1:31 left to go in the first half and a fumbled Wildcats kick return led to another score when Michael Viktrup hit Ethan Merriweather for a score to make it 28-14 at the half.

Lawrence North never threatened again as Carmel improves to 5-0 on the year and will retain their Class 6A No. 1 ranking.
