(Sept. 24, 2014) – Did you see it?

According to the American Meteor Society, residents in several states including Indiana reported seeing fireballs last night.

The AMS, a nonprofit scientific organization, said three of the events happened within an hour and a half of each other Tuesday night.

Observers from Fishers, Indianapolis, Mooresville, Peru and Warsaw were among the Hoosiers who filed reports with the AMS around 10 p.m. More than 70 people in several different states including Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Kentucky reported seeing the phenomenon.

Here’s a “heat map” of the fireball reports for the Indiana incident:

The other two reports, logged around 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, included observations ranging from Alabama to New York. Another report came in around 1:10 a.m. Wednesday over Florida and Georgia.

AMS said it’s likely the fireball events were captured by NASA cameras.
